On Thursday, July 4, 2013 we pulled into Dover just in time to head over to our campground at Cottington Lakes in Deal (8 miles east) and check in. We learned that we weren’t allowed to walk around the lakes as they are swimming with very valuable giant English carp. Apparently we could be poachers and therefore aren’t allowed near them, LOL! So we parked up and enjoyed a relaxing evening eating outside, listening to music, and reading. Off to bed early to get up to head to a place I have wanted to see as long as I can remember…. the White Cliffs of Dover.

In the morning I discovered my fridge was acting up so I headed into the nearby town of Deal to buy some ice and discovered an adorable little sea-front red shale beach town… the sea was a lighter colour than at home and was lovely enough to convince us to park for two hours and lay on the beach and swim 🙂
